HOW TO INSTALL ATS MODS (AND ETS2 MODS)

To install a mod, place its .scs or compatible .zip file in your game's mod folder, then enable it in Mod Manager. This Windows guide walks through every step for American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2.

  1. Step 1: Download a compatible ATS or ETS2 mod

    Choose a mod from the Polyfir Group mod shop and confirm that it supports your game and current game version. Select the download button and save the .zip or .scs file.

  2. Step 2: Find the downloaded mod file

    Open your browser's download location, usually the Windows Downloads folder. The mod file should end in .zip or .scs.

  3. Step 3: Find or create the mod folder

    Open the folder for your game:

    • ATS: Documents → American Truck Simulator → mod
    • ETS2: Documents → Euro Truck Simulator 2 → mod

    If there is no folder named mod, create a new folder in the game directory and name it exactly mod.

    This folder is for locally installed mod files. Steam Workshop mods are managed through Steam.

  4. Step 4: Move the file into the mod folder

    Open the mod folder, then drag and drop—or copy and paste—the downloaded .zip or .scs file into it. Most compatible mod archives should remain zipped unless the creator's instructions say otherwise.

  5. Step 5: Open Mod Manager

    Launch ATS or ETS2, select the profile you want to use, and open Mod Manager. Your newly installed mod should appear in the list of available mods.

  6. Step 6: Activate the mod

    Find the mod in Mod Manager and double-click it, or use the activation arrow, to move it into the active mods list. Confirm your changes and load the profile. The indicator turns green when the mod is active.

Should I unzip ATS or ETS2 mod files?

Usually, no. Put a compatible .zip or .scs file directly in the mod folder. If the download contains several .scs files, a readme, or a separate archive inside it, follow the creator's instructions and extract only the required mod files.

Why is my mod not showing in Mod Manager?

Check that the file is in the correct game's mod folder, uses a supported .zip or .scs format, and is compatible with your current game version. Then restart the game and check whether the mod requires another mod or a specific load order.

Where is the ATS mod folder on Windows?

The default location is Documents → American Truck Simulator → mod. For ETS2, use Documents → Euro Truck Simulator 2 → mod. Create the mod folder if it does not exist.
